Blacklight Activation: All Wildfire Luminescent Paints and Coatings are formulated to be their brightest and truest in color when illuminated by a Wildfire 365nm UV Blacklight.
Mixing &Tinting – All Wildfire Visible Luminescent Paints can be intermixed to create an unlimited color palette, including earth tones and skin tones. Mix colors together while working under blacklight for best results. You can achieve deeper color tones by intermixing nonfluorescing paints in the same tone or color range. We recommend Modern Masters’ JWR Artist Acrylics and Theme Paint Pre-Mixed Colors. Be sure to check daylight and blacklight results before applying to your project.
Dry Times – Dry-to-touch is approximately ½ hour. Recoat time is approximately 1 hour. Dry times recorded at 70°F and 50%RH. Note: Lower temperature and/or higher humidity will lengthen the dry and cure times. Higher temperatures and/or lower humidity will speed up the dry and cure times.
Coverage – One gallon/3.78 liters will cover approximately 250 to 300 square feet/23 to 27 square meters. Approximately 1.5 mils dry film thickness per coat. A minimum of 3 mils dry film thickness is required for full color development. Note: Fluorescent pigmented coatings are translucent and do not exhibit the same “hiding” characteristics as traditional paints.
Clean Up – Clean brushes, rollers, tool, and equipment with soap and warm water immediately after use. Do not reuse containers and properly dispose of empty containers.
Surface Preparation – All surfaces to be painted must be entirely free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, and other contaminants. Properly prime the clean, dry surface with a “white” acrylic, water base Primer and allow the Primer to dry. Provide adequate ventilation. Lower temperature and higher humidity will lengthen the dry and cure times of primers. Note: For the truest color and brightest effect, we recommend applying Wildfire Paints over a flat white surface. If a “whiter” base coat is desired then paint over the Primer coat with a Flat Latex White Paint or a Matte, White Artist Acrylic.
Application Conditions – Wildfire Paints are meant for interior surfaces only. Keep away from direct sunlight as the fluorescent pigments will fade in approximately three months or less, when exposed to sunlight. Do not apply in temperatures below 50°F/10°C or above 85°F/29°C.
Application – Wildfire Paints can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed onto any paintable, properly primed, interior surface. Wildfire Paints look best when spray applied. We recommend painting under UV Blacklight to ensure proper application techniques are being used to create and develop the expected visual effects.
Spraying: To spray Wildfire Paint, use a professionalgrade airbrush, or for large areas, use a good quality detail gun or HVLP cup gun. Wildfire Paints contain the highest fluorescent pigment loading possible. Keeping this concentration of pigment suspended is why the viscosity of Wildfire paints is so high. Thin as needed with water or a suitable Air Brush Medium, but do so carefully, as over-thinning of the paint may result in loss of hide and a reduction of the desired appearance. Test the mixture as you go to determine the best let-down ratio. Note: When spraying, use a properly-fitted, NIOSH approved respirator per the manufacturer’s instructions.
